    This home on the Brooklyn Heights promenade has beautiful views of New York Harbor and the Manhattan skyline.

    I looked to the early work of Stanford White to guide my way through design and construction while installing every contemporary amenity.

    The walls are upholstered in bold stripped fabric over the french polished mahogany wainscote.

    The cabinet holds an existing fireplace opening, converted to gas, as well as book shelves and embossed leather cabinet doors.

    French mercury mirrored pocket doors and fan
    light over door conceal the kitchen beyond. The doors slide away to a custom copper and brass range hood centered on the dinning where the dinner guests and host are in view. The doors slide closed when dinners are served.

    A dramatic new center stair connects the entry hall with the bedroom floor above. A nine foot diameter with beautifully turned out handrail and cork screw balusters.

    There is a coat closet and powder room behind doors concealed in the paneling tucked underneath the stair rise.

    The left handrail terminates gracefully on the pilaster supporting the arched opening to the living room.

    The Living Rooms yellow and blue palate enhances the day light and sky blue quality of the view.

    The walls are hung with prints of 19th century scenes of New York harbor in gilt frames and blue matting.

    Large scale blue and white check upholstery brings a fresh look to a pair of wing chairs. The bottle brush trim is a fun nod to earlier american upholstery of upper class merchant homes of the period.

    The library off the living room is framed by a similar arch opening. The window treatments in both rooms are hung with beautiful Ikat fabric lined in small blue and white checks.

    A lattice trim border finishes the drapery beautifully and frames the view to the harbor below.
